Kenya–Tanzania Trade Talks Advance Resolution of Non-Tariff Barriers
Kenya continues to value its strong strategic bilateral relations with Tanzania, anchored in shared history, cultural ties, economic cooperation, and a common vision for regional development. Following the 25th Summit of the EAC Heads of State, which directed Partner States to resolve all outstanding Non-Tariff Barriers (NTBs) by 30th June 2026, Honorable Beatrice Askul Moe today led the Kenyan delegation at the 10th Kenya-Tanzania Bilateral Trade Meeting under the Joint Trade Committee (JTC) framework. The meeting reviewed pending issues from the 9th JTC and addressed newly reported concerns, in line with the 2nd Extra-Ordinary SCFEA directive to fast-track amendments of laws inconsistent with Articles 10 and 15 of the Customs Union. The Tanzania delegation was led by Hon. Dennis Lazaro Londo, alongside Hon. Laurent Luswetula and Hon. James Millya, while the Kenyan team included Principal Secretary for Trade Ms Regina Ombam, Chargé d'Affaires Nancy Sifa, and representatives from relevant government institutions, reflecting a shared commitment to enhancing trade facilitation and regional integration.
