Ministry Pushes for Funding Boost in ASALs and Regional Programs

The Hon Beatrice Askul Moe appeared before the National Assembly Committee on Regional Development to discuss priority projects under the FY 2025/26 supplementary budget estimates. Emphasizing the Ministry’s expanded mandate including oversight of equalization fund programs and coordination of the North and North Eastern Kenya Development Initiative (NEDI), the CS urged the committee to allocate additional resources to support these responsibilities. The appeal also highlighted the need to fund ongoing legacy projects managed by Regional Development authorities. The session was also attended by the Principal Secretary for ASALs and Regional Development, alongside heads of regional agencies and technical staff.
