Regional Market Initiative Set to Enhance Trade Connectivity
Small-scale traders play a vital role in driving intra-East African Community trade, yet many continue to face challenges such as inadequate market infrastructure, limited access to trade information and weak integration into regional value chains. A briefing by the Directorate of Research and Regional Liaison highlighted the proposed Jumuiya Markets Blueprint, an initiative focused on establishing markets at border points and tri-junctions between Kenya and neighbouring EAC partner states. The initiative seeks to strengthen regional trade, improve market access for traders and promote greater economic integration across the region.
